Postdocs
There is no postdoc opening at the moment. However, if you already have funding and are interested, feel free to reach out to discuss possible research directions.
Graduate Students
PhD:
I am currently at capacity in terms of PhD student supervision. However, students who already have funding and who are interested in PhD research are welcome to reach out to discuss possible research directions aligned with their interests.
Master (thesis program):
I have an opening for a domestic Master’s student. If you are interested in F28, you can send a CV, transcripts, and a statement of interest by email well ahead of the Jan 15 deadline. You can also formally apply here for the MMath (thesis) program https://uwaterloo.ca/applied-mathematics/graduate-students/applying before the Jan 15 deadline.
Undergraduate Students
For Fall 26, internship positions have been already filled. If you’re interested in Winter 27 or after, feel free to contact me to see if there is mutual interest and and apply for funding if needed.
There are several opportunities for undergraduates to engage in research at the interface of physics and machine learning:
- Projects can count as co-op placements.
- Many opportunities are paid, and funding can be arranged.
Examples of funding opportunities:
- Undergraduate Student Research Award (USRA) — for Canadian citizens and permanent residents
- Mathematics Undergraduate Research Award (MURA) — open to all students at the Math Faculty of UWaterloo.
